2. I’m interested in being a Police Officer/Fire Fighter, how do I apply for these positions?

Applying to be a Police Officer or Fire Fighter is different than applying for another position. You can use the links below to visit the appropriate pages on our website to see how to apply for these roles.

3. What's the best way to apply for a position at the City of Edmond?

If a position piques your interest after reviewing our career opportunities, click on the job title to learn more about the position. If you would like to apply, then click the "Apply Now" button displayed on the page with the career listing. That button will take you to the online application where you can attach a resume, list your experience, and answer screening questions.

Please fill out the application thoroughly and completely, and attach a resume and references. The more details, the better!

4. Any suggestions in completing the application?

Start by reading our How to Apply guide and our Helpful Hints. They'll give you an overview of the application process with some insider advice.

When you start filling out the application, our best advice is get our attention (in a good way)! A job application is your first impression with us, so make sure it's a stellar one. Here are some tips for catching our attention with your application:

• Don't skimp on details—complete the entire application thoroughly. Show us your skills!
• Upload a whiz-banging resume—optional, but highly encouraged.
• Include references—this saves time in the long run.
• Communicate—don't hesitate to reach out about your application, and please respond to our emails and/or calls. We'll do what we can to contact you, but we need you to meet us halfway.
• Be honest—it doesn't benefit you to include skills you don't have because eventually, it will come out. For example, are you really proficient with "all" computer systems?
  • It's much more impressive to be honest from the start—we can teach skills, but we can't teach integrity.

5. Should I attach a resume to my application? / How do I attach a resume to my application?

Attaching a resume is optional, but we highly recommend it! 

A resume provides information about your credentials, qualifications, and work history. It's a quick way for us to get a feel for your skills, and it's easier than filling out your profile on our website (although that's a good option, too). We also recommend adding recommendation letters, cover letters, or other documentation relevant to your application.

To attach a resume to your application, use the Upload Resume button listed underneath the job title on the application page. (See image below—area is outlined in red.) Please submit your resume as a doc, docx, or PDF file.

6. Help! I am having issues submitting my application. What should I do?
