Do you require a permit for replacing or repairing existing roof coverings on residential structures?
No, a permit is not required. Our department does not inspect new roof coverings or re-roofing of residential structures. If a homeowner has a question concerning code requirements for roof coverings, we will furnish the owner with the current State adopted code language on repairing or re-roofing for insurance purposes only. Any dispute between the roof installer and the homeowner will be a civil issue for them to resolve.
