Sooner Road, north of Covell Road, will be narrowed to one lane in each direction beginning Aug. 30 while establishing a work zone for the Sooner Road Improvements Project.

Sooner Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction beginning just south of Conference Center Drive to just north of Mark Waner Drive while work begins on the $3.3 million improvements project, which will add a turn lane into the new Crest location, an entryway into the new grocery store and a stop light at the new entry that will open across from the Conference Center Drive entrance.

The dedicated right turn lane into Conference Center Drive will remain open for the time being but likely will be closed for periods of time as the work on the improvements progresses. The lane closures needed to establish the work zone will take approximately 60 days, with cooperative weather.
