Burning Information & Permits

The City of Edmond allows open burning for the purpose of clearing “yard brush” such as cut branches, limbs, and shrubbery. It does not include trash, grass clippings, piles of leaves, in-ground stumps, or any non-vegetative material or building materials.

A burn permit is not required for a commercially purchased burn pit with screen, chimenea, or outdoor fireplace. Handmade fire pits or fire rings are allowed in sizes under 3’ X 3’ X 3’ size. Trash, grass clippings, piles of leaves, in-ground stumps, or any non-vegetative material or building materials are not allowed.

Social events such as Bon Fires are on a case-by-case basis and must be inspected and approved by the Fire Prevention office.

All open burning sites must have an approved Burn Permit.
