2017 Volunteer Group Award + New Events

Volunteer Group of the Year Award Announced

Congratulations to Edmond North High School’s SUN Club, the winner of this year’s Volunteer Group of the Year Award! This award is based on a total number of points earned by group members by attending volunteer opportunities from April to March. 49 SUN Club members contributed to their winning point total, with members in attendance at six different events over the preceding year. Thirteen students attended more than one event.

Urban Forestry announced the award winner at the Arbor Day Tree Planting on March 25th in Mitch Park. SUN Club was featured in a recognition ad in Edmond Life & Leisure, and they will also receive a $250 value in trees this fall, to plant in a location of their choosing. Thank you to SUN Club for their dedication to enhancing Edmond’s urban forest!

In April, we started up again with a clean slate for all groups to earn points toward next year’s award. Learn more about how to earn points for your group toward the Volunteer Group of the Year Award.

Updated Volunteer Event Schedule

Urban Forestry has an updated schedule of volunteer opportunities extending into this fall! Visit our volunteer portal to view the schedule. That page is updated periodically with the most current information, so be sure to save it to your bookmarks. As an event approaches, we will also link to an online signup sheet. We recommend that volunteers sign up if they plan to attend an event, since some projects can accommodate only a limited number of people.
