This fall, Edmond Electric teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation
to provide Edmond Electric customers with 125 trees through a program
called Energy Saving Trees. Through the Energy Saving Trees program
customers were able to access the program website, enter their address,
and view an aerial photo of their home. Using the aerial view, the
program helped them determine the most appropriate species (from a list
of six available) and the best location to plant the tree in order to
obtain the largest amount of energy savings from it.
Edmond Electric sponsored Energy Saving Trees with an understanding of
the value that trees provide for Edmond residents. “We recognize the
importance of trees for health and quality of life, and they can also
help lower energy costs,” said Energy Services Manager Michelle Gumaer.
“Planting the right tree in the right place will not only lower energy
costs, but will provide comfort for families for years to come.”
The first utility in the state of Oklahoma to provide this nationwide program, seeing its success Edmond Electric looks forward to sponsoring another distribution next year. If you are an Edmond Electric customer, be on the lookout for more information about next year’s Energy Saving Trees program in a future utility bill.
