Notes:
- Customers' classification (residential, commercial, industrial or institutional) is determined by the city's rate category for the customer.
- All rebate standards and amounts are subject to review and change as deemed necessary by Edmond Electric.
Edmond Electric offers FREE Home Energy Audits for interested customers. Contact Edmond Electric at (405) 216-7608 to schedule your free energy audit and learn what type of heat pump would work best for your home.
New home construction will require a load analysis, which can also be performed by an Edmond Electric auditor.
A certified residential energy auditor must perform an energy audit for a residence prior to installation. Also, Edmond Electric personnel must inspect the equipment after installation to confirm that program requirements are met. For new homes, the audit can be performed using information provided by the builder; this information must be verified when the installed equipment is inspected by Edmond Electric personnel.
Air-source, dual fuel and ground-source (geothermal) heat pumps all qualify, provided they meet the minimum efficiency standards. All units must be permanently-installed single package, split, or through-the-wall unit to qualify.
The latest Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) Directories will be used to determine both the efficiency and capacity ratings for rebates. The rebate amount will be determined per cooling ton listed on the AHRI to the nearest hundredth.
To qualify for the rebate, all heat pump equipment, other than pre-charged(do it yourself) mini-split units installed by the homeowner, must be installed by a licensed contractor. Installers shall secure all necessary permits and or licenses for proper completion of the project. All permits and inspections will need to be closed or completed, prior to post inspection of equipment. A copy or photo of the final inspection tag will be required.
Removed unit's information from the data plates must be provided on the rebate sheet or in picture form if available.
Contractors who install equipment will need to have a contractor agreement on file. This will only require one form for the city, not a form per installation.
Dual-Fuel Heat Pump
- Dual-fuel heat pumps must be installed and maintained under the following conditions:
- Setpoint of outdoor thermostats must not exceed 40º Fahrenheit.
- Whenever outdoor temperatures exceed 40º Fahrenheit, the auxiliary heat source will only operate when the indoor thermostat is manually set on the emergency heat mode.
Geothermal Heat Pump
- Geothermal heat pumps that meet the minimum EER rating, have at least one operating Integrated Water Heater or Desuperheater for domestic water heating, and is a new installation or conversion from other type of HVAC system qualifies for a rebate.
- NEWgeothermal units: Please attach all required paperwork and any requested paperwork listed below, along with your rebate form:
- REQUIRED INFORMATION: Installation team form, load calculations (manual J or hand), design of loop system, loop site plan (map of loop fields), start-up (commissioning sheet).
- REQUESTED INFORMATION: IGSHPA-accredited contractor, equipment warranty.
- Replacement of a geothermal heat pump with a geothermal heat pump or if backup heat is non-electric, the unit(s) will be rebated the same as an air-source heat pump - $250/ton.
- When adding a geothermal heat pump, if there isn't a previously drilled well exclusively for the added unit, or there is not a new well drilled exclusively for the added unit, the rebate will be the same as a geothermal replacement unit.
- NEWgeothermal units: Please attach all required paperwork and any requested paperwork listed below, along with your rebate form:
The possible savings are dependent on a number of factors: type of heat pump installed, the age, insulation and size of your home, living habits and others.
Based on numbers compiled by Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA), if you replaced your old gas furnace and air-conditioning unit with an air-source or dual-fuel heat pump you could potentially cut your heating and cooling bill in half.
If you replace your gas furnace and air-conditioning unit with a ground-source (Geothermal) heat pump, your yearly heating and cooling bill could be one-third of what it currently is.
Residential - Air-Source Rebate Form
Residential - Dual Fuel Rebate Form
Residential - Ground Source(Geothermal) Rebate Form
All rebates will require a copy of the sales receipt/invoice indicating, contractor information, model-number, purchase/installation date and price must be attached with the rebate request form. Please confirm payee name matches billing section on invoice.
Incomplete or missing information will delay processing and could result in denial of rebate. To ensure you receive your rebate without delays, submit your fully completed and signed rebate request forms, all required paperwork, and a copy of your invoice within 90 days of equipment installation.
Removed unit's information from the data plates must be provided on the rebate sheet or in picture form if available.
Rebates will not be approved for locations already rebated, unless significant building additions justify additional heat pumps, or at least 10 years has elapsed since the last rebate was approved for that location. Rebates will not be provided if it is determined the replacement unit will cause an increase in kilowatts, rather than a decrease.
